Why the new Real Madrid-Manchester United rivalry is about more than just the money

Real Madrid have been in the headlines in recent months over their interest in signing Manchester United’s former player and Manchester United winger Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Manchester City’s interest in attacking midfielder Fernandinho.

Ibrahimovic is currently in his second season at Manchester United and his current contract expires in 2020.

He is also expected to be a target of Chelsea and Tottenham, both of whom have been linked with a move for him.

The Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has insisted the club will not be swayed by the situation, and has said he wants to build a team that will compete with the best.
